Orlando based band The Cold Start will be officially releasing their second EP, “Grateful Eyes” on October 14. The six song EP showcases the band’s inviting rock/pop music. The music is seductive, luring listeners with solidly crafted songs, soaring layers, passionate vocals and vibrant harmonies.
The EP starts off with the first single “My Dear,” a song that opens with rhythmic thumping beats, steadily building swirling music behind expressive vocals and echoing harmonies. “Oh Hello” features a stark piano intro, bursting into undulating waves of music. “Love, Hate, Sunset” is a hook heavy song accentuated by soaring vocals and an incredibly catchy chorus.
The shifting vocal intensity on “Safe and Sound” generates a fuzzy, warm vibe that courses through the song. The sweeping music on “Perfect Timing” is enhanced by the complex rhythms and vocal harmonies floating through the music. The EP closes with “A Different Voice,” a stark, moving piano song featuring introspective lyrics.
The band’s lyrics are catchy, engaging and heartfelt. They write about common issues in life like relationships, hardships and changes, but while their lyrics are descriptive and direct, at the same time they are ambiguous enough to apply universally, making their songs very relatable to listeners on many levels.
It is a charming EP with foot-tapping steady beats and catchy lyrics a listener can’t help but sing along to and will make a terrific addition to any music collection. “Grateful Eyes” will be available on iTunes and Spotify. Music fans can check out the band’s self-titled debut EP on iTunes as well.
The Cold Start is relatively new to Orlando (via Los Angeles and the UK), but they’ve already played several shows in Orlando and are earning high marks from music fans and fellow performers with each show. Music fans can follow the band on Facebook, You Tube, Instagram and Twitter. Their next show is at The Social in Orlando on October 28 with James Corey Bost and -kids-.
