The second release from Orlando based singer/songwriter Reggie Williams, “The All Of Us EP” is not only a giant dose of ear candy, but a treat for the heart and soul as well. His songs have a special way of reaching out and touching a listener like few other songs can. It goes way beyond his captivating musical arrangements, his heartfelt, inspirational lyrics and passionate vocal delivery.
The six songs on “The All Of Us EP” draw the listener in with head bobbing, foot tapping musical rhythms and catchy, relatable lyrics that pour straight from his heart. The breezy, up-tempo track “You Make Me Feel” starts off the EP with a classic R&B flavor and Williams opening up as he sings “So what If I’m scared/that people might just see into this heart of glass.” The spirited “I Don’t Know How” is emphasized by a jangly guitar and Williams’ voice powerfully rising up through the chorus.
The softer “If You Could Choose” is highlighted by the delicate tinkle of piano keys. “Moving On” brings pictures to mind of Williams’ fingers skillfully dancing along his guitar’s fretboard. As with the rest of the songs on the EP, this song features lyrics that has him taking an introspective look as he sings “I’m held by the fear that’s keeping me here /pressing me under my own thumb/I will not succumb” and “I’ve been so scared of being my self today/I’ve been way too scared of living my life my way.”
With the acoustic guitar at the forefront and stirring, tender lyrics, “Meant To Be” has a nice, warm and toasty vibe. The steady beating of the drums and rapid vocal delivery keep the energy building throughout the EP’s epic closing song, “I Wanna Live.” After listening once, who doesn’t want to play it again and shout along with Williams or the chorus of background singers “Where do I go/who should I be/there is no answer/only what’s inside of me”?
Reggie Williams’ songs are universal and this EP would fit well in any CD collection. Many of his current fans have made definite connections with his music using words like amazing, phenomenal and angelic to describe the man and his music.
