“In Perfect Darkness” is the first full-length release from Orlando based band Ideal ZerO. That’s really great news since the only complaint registered about their previous release was that it was only five songs long. With ten songs on this new CD the band gets to show fans how deep and diverse their sound really is.

The band’s rock music has a big powerhouse sound, hitting hard and heavy and marked by subtle nuances of different musical styles. Lead singer Irina Nicula’s vocals range from tough and strong to sultry and entrancing, sometimes all on the same song. The rest of the band, Richard Caballero (bass), Clint Waddell (keyboard and guitar) and Charles Washington (drums), brings the added instrumental punch to the songs in all the right places.

“Before We Drown” kicks off the CD with a variety of night sounds joined by a stark piano intro before the heavy, edgy music and Nicula’s mighty vocals invade the darkness. The bass driven “Little Blue Man” builds steady beating momentum through swirling music, silky lead vocals and varied sound effects. “Let It Out” is one of the more musically intense songs on the CD. The softer feel on “Walls” and the beautiful tribute song “My Last Request” are probably the closest Ideal ZerO’s music comes to a ballad.

The band’s lyrics have a lot of substance, delivering meaningful messages that are as powerful as the music. Encouragement is a theme that runs through “Show Them All,” “Don’t Give Up” and the jazz toned “Things Will Get Better.” The songs “Love Crime” and “Now That We Know” are inspiring songs for anyone searching for freedom from heartache and unhappiness.

For this CD the band returned to well-known super producer Brett Hestla. Hestla is very skilled at drawing out all the best things he can from a band and their songs and on “In Perfect Darkness” he did just that for Ideal ZerO. The band and their music, the top-notch production and mixing plus the professional packaging add up to something for the band to be really proud of. Music fans will not be disappointed in “In Perfect Darkness.”

Officially released on March 4, “In Perfect Darkness” is available from the band’s official store, Amazon, iTunes and other online outlets. Music fans can check out the Orlando area band on Facebook, Reverbnation, You Tube and Twitter.
