"In writing the album over the last three years, I’ve been opening old wounds, which some I didn’t even know existed, with the hopes of being able to overcome who I was, and understand who I am." - Rosie Blais, lead singer of Enjoy Your Pumas
Enjoy Your Pumas' latest musical offering, is beautifully atmospheric. From "Setback" to "Lucky Number Seven," to "Sister Rose" and "When It's Over," the 13-track album is an intimate journey into the difficult art of relationships, of which each song is a logical step.
"Commonality" boasts maturity and strength, while establishing Enjoy Your Pumas as a major artistic force to be reckoned with in North America. The band is not afraid to shatter the mundane with rich and haunting tunes, powerful lyrics and the "vocal paintings" of Rosie Blais, a young woman of a rare talent. The result is an intense, gutsy (and sometimes edgy) tour de force in which feelings and thoughts take precedence over any easy listening. And the occasional nods to Sigur Rós, Depeche Mode and Björk make the experience even more enjoyable.
"Commonality" is polished, crystal clear and probably one of the best albums to emerge from Canada in 2011.
The album was released on February 1, 2011 and is available for purchase through CDBaby and iTunes.
