The Pantages Theater of Hollywood, popular among musical theater fans as an important stop along any tour’s West Coast route, is hosting a limited 2 week engagement of Catch Me If You Can. This musical sends spectators back to the jazzy, jet setting 1960s, featuring the real-life story of Frank Abagnale, Jr (popularly portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2002 film by the same name), played by Stephen Anthony. Anthony brings a very believable charm to the international cat-and-mouse chase on which the teenage genius sends FBI.
Climb aboard Pan Am with Co-pilot Frank and follow the complex and intriguing plot is refreshingly fitting for a musical, with such show stopping numbers as “Breaking All the Rules” that show a sultry, darker side of some characters on par with Dreamgirls and Chicago.
With a significant focus on Abagnale’s family background, the stage version proves to be an overall more family-friendly one. This musical is recommended for audiences ages 10 and up.
Overall, impressive ballads such as “Fly, Fly Away” and “Goodbye”, and the memorable love song “Seven Wonders” make this show worth a visit.
The limited 2-week engagement of Catch ends on March 24th . Evening performances are at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Matinee performances are 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Orchestra level tickets start at $25. Click here to visit the Pantages’ official website for ticket information.
