Just off the beaten path in downtown Yorkville, IL quietly sits the unassuming Casa Santiago. Just south of the riverfront park off of Hydraulic and Heustis streets, Casa Santiago welcomes patrons with a rustic and authentic charm into their spacious dining room and adequate bar. The menu consists of authentic Mexican recipes, prepared to-order, of standard Mexican-style dishes. Portions are sizeable and quality is definitely high.

The primary menu consists of typical Mexican-style offerings, such as burritos, chimichangas, enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, and fajitas. Main selections are available with a choice of meat such as beef, steak, chicken, pork, and shrimp. In particular, the Steak Burrito serves as an excellent example of the above-average quality, well cooked steak, seasoned well and stuffed into a burrito with beans or any combination of filling selections including lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, cheese, and more. Salads are available for those seeking lighter fare, and a kid’s menu offers smaller portions of the same high quality main dishes, creating a something-for-everyone dining experience. Chips and salsa are complimentary, of course, and the salsa is a unique, personal recipe resulting in an out-of-the-ordinary experience. Compliment the chips and salsa with the fresh, well-seasoned guacamole for the perfect pre-meal snack.

Prices range from $6 for Nacho appetizers, $7 to $10 for burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and tacos, and $13 to $15 for fajitas. Meals are served with fresh rice and beans, and a sandwich menu is available with tortas and burgers. The drink selection from the bar is as diverse as the menu, offering a variety of imported and domestic beers, Magaritas, and mixed drinks. Casa Santiago is located at 227 Heustis Street, Yorkville, IL and can be reached at 630-385-2046 for dine-in or carry-out. Hours are Monday through Thursday 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from Noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from Noon to 9 p.m. Best to call for details on prices, hours, and services.
