CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Travis County hosted their annual pre-party for their Kids’ Golf Classic at the AT&T Conference Center on May 15, 2011. Sponsored by Austin Area Mazda Dealers, the party was a fundraising event in order for CASA to continue serving approximately 80% of Travis County children involved with child protective services.
Every aspect of the party was an impressive demonstration of CASA’s attention to detail. The courtyard venue was perfect for a beautiful spring evening in Austin, TX. The party included entertainment by The Vendetta Big Band, a local jazz and swing band that helped create a fun and lively atmosphere. The food was fantastic and the accessible cash bar kept the partygoers from ever being thirsty. There was a video presentation reminding all of the volunteers and supporters how important their role is in continuing to serve children in need of an advocate.
The silent auction and live auction both featured a time for people to support CASA while walking away with amazing items and experiences. From trips to sporting events, the prizes that were donated to CASA allowed for very profitable outcomes.
The party was a great way to get people pumped up for the CASA Kids’ Golf Classic on May 16, 2011. The golf tournament, largely sponsored by Dr. Pepper, Sonic, and Fox 7, was held at the Hills Country Club and allowed individuals or teams to register for the exciting tournament. The first place team consisted of Don Smith, Charlie Stauffer, Hunter Wentzel, and Stan Edwards.
Overall, the CASA Kids’ Golf Classic and Pre-Party were great successes. The attendees enjoyed wonderful food, music, and weather. Beyond all of the details that went into hosting these events, supporters of CASA can all agree that nothing is more important than the people that continue to share their time, compassion, and resources in order to serve the children that need us most.
