For some, the term the Rat Pack is a memory from long ago. For others, it's something we heard about from our parents. Either way, the members of the Rat Pack are legendary for the music and movies they starred in. The Copa Room originated in Las Vegas at the Sands Hotel, which was demolished in 1996. Carlo Cammisano, owner of Carlo's Copa Room in Lenexa, KS keeps the memories of The Copa Room and the Rat Pack alive in his family run restaurant.
Carlo's mom Kathy Fiorello makes everything from scratch and cooks every meal as if it is for her own family. Carlo's serves traditional Italian fare such as ravioli, lasagne and Fettuccini Alfredo to dishes like Chicken Spiedini (marinated pieces of chicken breast, lightly breaded and grilled, brushed with Amogio).
The most popular lunch items are the panini sandwiches. For dinner, the winner is the Frank, Dean and Sammy combo. This combo includes Chicken Spiedini, Nani's Lasagne and pasta Alfredo.
Carlo's offers chicken, steak, veal and seafood dishes as well as a variety of antipasti (appetizers) like Nani's Fried Meatballs and Toasted Ravioli. For dessert there are several options. Nani's homemade cheesecake, Cannoli, Italian Gelato, or the always popular, Nani's Spumoni Cake. This is a homemade concoction created by Carlo and Kathy.
Three layers of cake just like Spumoni ice cream (which is also offered). A chocolate layer with chunks of chocolate in the batter, a cherry layer and a layer of pistachio cake with real bits of pistachios all topped with Nani's whipped icing.
Carlo's Copa Room offers an intimate experience for 2 or they can accommodate groups of up to 80 for your next gathering. Come by Carlo's to enjoy an authentic Italian meal and to be transported back to the Rat Pack days, if only for a short time.
