Captain America, the Winter Soldier

Captain American (Steve Rogers) is working for S.H.I.E.L.D in Washington, D.C. under the direct supervision of Nick Fury. S.H.I.E.L.D. is an espionage agency and Rogers is working for them as he attempts to adjust to society after being asleep for 70 years. Agent Nastasha Romanoff, known as Black Widow, and Rogers are sent to free some hostages aboard a government vessel that has been taken over by a group of skilled mercenaries and George Batroc. Rogers is aboard the ship and he is saving the hostages and then he discovers that Black Widow has a dual mission. She is suppose to retrieve computer data from the vessel's computer for Supervisor Fury. Rogers returns to Shield's headquarters and he is then briefed about Project Insight after he confronts his superior. The supervisor is unable to decipher Black Widow's recovered computer data and Fury immediately asks his superior to delay Project Insight due to his career suspicions.

Fury is in the midst of a secret rendezvous with Maria Hill when he is ambushed by the Winter Soldier. Fury escapes and he then warns Captain America that the agency is corrupted. Fury gives Rogers a flash drive containing the downloaded ship's computer data and Fury is attacked again by the Winter Soldier. Fury dies on the operating table and Maria Hill recovers his corpse. Rogers is summoned to Triskelion then. Captain America refuses to give any protected information that is confidential that was relayed to him by Fury and he is then labeled a fugitive. Rogers is hunted down by S.T.R.I.K.E. and he meets Black Widow again. Both agents discover that Shield has a secret bunker or location hidden in New Jersey. While a the secret location, both agents tap into a supercomputer containing the brain of Armin Zola. Zola then reveals that Hydra founded S.H.I.E.L.D. after World War II. Hydra's objective all along was to cause global chaos so that they may have complete control over all of humanity. The agents escape as a missile destroys the hidden New Jersey bunker.

Captain America and Black Widow get some much needed assistance then from a former USAF pararescueman by the name of Sam Wilson. The same jogger Rogers met while jogging on the path at the beginning of the movie. Rogers befriends him in order to obtain his powered "Falcon" government wingpack. They then kidnap Jasper Sitwell since he is the Hydra mole and they force him into telling them what Zola meant by his algorithm that can assist in identifying people who could cause or become a substantial threat to their Hydra plan to take over the world. The Winter Soldier ambushes the party as Jasper begins to tell them that Insight Helicarriers will shoot the individuals down that may become a threat and eliminate all of the threats. Rogers then recognizes the Winter Soldier as his friend Bucky Barnes. Hill manages to assist the trio and move them to a safer location temporarily. While there, the two find out that Nick Fury faked his death so that he could sabotage Project Insight by replacing their controller computer chips.

Captain America then advertises Hydra's plan to take over the world to the people at Triskelion as soon as the World Security Council arrives. The agents storm the Helicarriers and try to replace the controller computer chips but the Winter Soldier sabotages their plans briefly. Captain America tries to reach his friend, Bucky, the Winter Soldier then. He refuses to fight his friend and he is thrown into the Potomac River. Bucky rescues his friend, Rogers, and then he disappears again into the woods. Captain America decides to find Bucky, the Winter Soldier, as Rumslow is injured and hospitalized as he gets struck by the falling Helicarrier.
