Cap is back…and better than ever? You’ll have to decide that for yourself. I for one was happy to see our favorite Captain back in the limelight. Steve Rogers hasn’t changed much since last we saw him eating shawarma with his Avenger buddies. He’s still out of his zone (time zone, that is), still holding on to the dying remnants of love, and still figuring out what it means to be him in the 21st Century (Chris Evans is also still extremely built).
We get to know Black Widow a little better, we’re introduced to a fun new side-kick, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and you get a look at some old faces in a new way. It’s exciting! Remember, this takes place just after the New York incident. The Avengers are split up fighting different battles, so don't be surprised that Cap and Black Widow are on their own (see slightly outdated cinematic timeline here). The action sequences are intense, the emotion is intense, and there are plot twists that you might not see coming; or maybe you’re one of those people who are never surprised…Know-it-alls.
So, what can I say? Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a beautiful follow up to both Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers! It’s funny, dramatic, and don’t forget to stay for after the credits. No, not those credits, the real ones. Marvel is the bomb at hiding Easter eggs in all their movies, so pay attention! This may be a good time for you to do some review and get geared up for Avengers: Age of Ultron. That’s all I want; to see the gang back together for some humor, drama, and kick-butt action.
So girls, fall in love with Steve again. Boys, rekindle your desire to save the world. May we live happily ever after in Marvel universe. Thank you, Stan.
