A month ago, an assumption was made that if you are reading this column, you have a head. Now, a month later, the same assumption is going to be made about your father, provided he still resides on the sunny side of the dirt and you still have the kind of relationship with him where gift giving on special occasions is a way to show your love and appreciation for him. As mentioned recently, one great way to do this is by dropping a fancy new hat into his lap.

New Era Heritage Series 19TWENTY 1934 Collection NY Giants Major League Baseball Cap $74.99

The New York Giants MLB 1934 Heritage Collection 19TWENTY Cap or any of the 10906 styles from New Era could would be great for that sports loving Dad of yours. New Era is THE name in official on-field caps for Major League Baseball and the National Football League so all you have to do is know the old man’s favorite team (the one he yells at the TV the most about) and then take a peek at the New Era website. Simple.

This New York Giants cap is a textbook example of what makes a great old-school baseball cap. The fit is a bit snug at first, but the leather headband relaxes quickly and helps keep the cap in place whether you’re diving for a pop-fly or tossing back a brewski. The unstructured crown is rather low profile and fits close to the head, and the bill can be curved to suit. The 60% viscose and 40% lana (rayon and wool) of which the hat is made is surprisingly cool on all but the hottest of days and it is made to be easy to live with. After a month of abuse, this New York Giants cap looks good as new except for a little bit of crunchy salt left behind after a particularly warm morning run.
