San Francisco’s great-bodies golden girl, Burr Leonard of Bar Method fame, has just released 2 new workout DVDs.
For at home workouts these 2 will absolutely anchor your collection.
If you are a targeted body shaping addict, Bar Method allows you to indulge your passion.
If you are not familiar with Bar Method, it is a no-nonsense technique that integrates interval training with isometrics and stretching into its sequence. It can provide you with all you need for making big changes in your body shape that just get better and better.
Bar Method also meets the essential requirement of being grounded in physical therapy for a body that not only looks extraordinary yet moves also with grace and ease.
Super Sculpting l and ll
In her new DVDs, Burr follows the tried and true sequence of Bar Method instruction that begins with upper body and progresses into thigh and seat, then abdominals, with a finish of seat work and stretch on the floor. Both of these new DVDs are excellent. I’m partial to Super Sculpting 1 because it’s got lots of repetitions of 'pretzel' in it, one of my favorite all-time moves for shaping in the 'backyard'.
And Burr pulls out a whole new set of challenges with the ab work.
Super Sculpting and Super Sculpting ll - as this new set is called - utlize different casts and there are both women and men in each. Alternating these DVDs or mixing them up with others in your rotation works extremely well. They are each about an hour in length.
And these are a good pick for those who can't get to a studio or gym to work out and need the convenience of a powerful workout to do at home.
Similarities and Differences with Super Sculpting and Super Sculpting ll
What are the similarities and differences between these 2 DVDs?
Both are designed for the intermediate-to-advanced.
Both have multiple sets of thigh work.
At the same time, they each have a slightly different focus. Super Sculpting concentrates on toning. “SS II” moves a little bit faster and is a bit more aerobic, though both of these include a set of aerobic exercises mid-point through the workout. The upper body challenge is a bit deeper in SS II – thank goodness Burr always slips pushups in, because they are hard to not only do, but hard to sneak in on your own.
Super Sculpting ll also adds one more set of thigh-work, a second “seat” exercise designed to elevate the heart-rate, and in Burr’s own words, “a few “zingers” which is Bar Method speak for short, fun, surprising and extra hard moves) during the ab section. And of course both of these new DVDs come with the form tips tracks that have become standard on Bar Method DVDs.
Finally, a comment on Burr Leonard's instruction.
Burr is instructor in both of these new DVDs. She has the rare quality of being able to be fully present with powerful instruction without becoming annoying after a few playthroughs. You know how that is? Some DVD instructors just start to get on your nerves, either because of their over-the-top energy or cutesy comments heard over and over again as you repeat your workouts. It just doesn’t happen with Burr.
