At most restaurants you are likely to find some sort of hamburger on the menu, and sometimes they are actually decent. Usually they are at the bottom of the menu and are only there for picky eaters and patrons under the age of 12.
Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a tasty burger as much as anyone. However, when I decide it is time for a burger only the best will do; luckily for me I live in Lawrence, Kan. which is home to Dempsey’s Burger Pub.
Residing at 6th and Vermont, Dempsey’s boasts a menu that is diverse enough to satisfy even the most imaginative burger lover. With 16 options to choose from the only downside is having to narrow it down to just one.
If you are hungry for something sweet and spicy then you will be pleased to see the Hot Hawaiian Kobe Burger, which is topped with a pineapple jalapeno chutney, applewood bacon, bibb lettuce and Siracha aioli all between a pretzel bun for $11, which is the most expensive sandwich available.
If you don’t eat red meat then the Salmon Burger which comes topped with coleslaw should hit the spot. If you don’t eat meat at all then you can choose between the Quinoa Burger and the VEG Burger. The Quinoa Burger is mildly dressed with sweet chili aioli, pickled carrots, jalapeno and cilantro salad; I am not a vegetarian and found this to be quite good.
There is, of course, a standard cheeseburger for the picky eaters and a kids meal for the patrons under 12 but for those who desire more than American cheese and a pickle on their burger Dempsey’s is the place to go whether you are taking your parents to lunch or going out with friends to watch a game.
