Brunch perfection at Grand Café

It’s no secret that I like breakfast food and going out to eat for breakfast. Brunch is such a great way to catch up with family on the weekend, and it’s a more economical option than going out for dinner. One place I have been longing to try for months is Grand Café in Minneapolis. I have heard such wonderful things about their food, especially their brunch menu. I finally got around to checking out Grand Café on a recent Sunday with my family, and all of us were impressed.

Walking into Grand Café, you immediately feel comfortable in the homey and eclectic dining room. The atmosphere is vintage, with a pounded tin ceiling and eclectic antique furniture. It is the perfect place to go for family brunch.

The service at Grand Café is second to none. Our waiter was very attentive and accommodating. He brought us a free refill on our hot chocolate without even asking. Not many restaurants give you service like that and it really is the little things that keep you coming back.

Besides the wonderful ambiance and exceptional service, the food is really scrumptious. Since our group had six people, I was lucky to get to sample a few different dishes and everything was top notch. I ordered the caramel-orange French toast and it was divine. The flavor of the caramel-orange syrup was delicious and not too sweet. The egg bread was nice and dense, and held up perfectly to the caramel crust. It didn't get too soggy like often happens with French toast. I don't usually like whipped cream on my French toast, but the whipped cream at Grand Cafe really made this dish. Don't skimp on the whipped cream.

I also got to sample a bite of the blueberry pancakes, which were soft and buttery with little bursts of blueberry. And I can’t forget the homemade sausage. My dad and husband are true sausage lovers and they both claimed the sausage at Grand Cafe was the best they had ever tasted. I have to agree. This sausage had the perfect amount of seasoning and a slightly sweet after taste.

I can't wait to go back to Grand Cafe for more breakfast perfection. I would definitely recommend calling or going online to make a reservation as this place fills up quickly.

They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. They are also open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11 am to 2:30 pm and dinner from 5 to 9 pm. Weekend dinner is served until 10 pm.
