Brittni Paiva breathes life into 'Living Ukulele'

Brittni Paiva can jam on the ukulele. You discover that a lot on the 22-year-old Hawaiian native's first DVD, Living Ukulele-beginning with a jam she does at age 14. But Paiva is also about spacing her notes, making melodies, and making some pretty sweet music. You discover that as well.

Living Ukulele (Talmidim Productions) is mostly concert footage, of course, as well as interviews with the artists-utilizing her home state's gorgeous scenery-and praises from such artists and producers as Daniel Ho, Tom Scott and Charles Michael Brotman.

There are two bonus features: a video of "Fusion: West/Fusion: Fast" from her 2009 release Four Strings: The Fire Within.

The second bonus is a nice touch: a few quick ukulele lessons from those just starting out to those with a little experience. Among the topics covered are tuning, picking, strumming, hammer-ons and pull-offs, tapping, harmonics.
