Recently we picked up another Groupon, and this time it was $12, and you receive a coupon for $25, to be used at Britt's Coal Fire Pizza. This is in Treasure Island, which is in Pinellas, and great for a short trip out.
We found the restaurant on the north east corner of Central Avenue, and Gulf Blvd. We walked in, picked up a menu, and found a table. We looked to our left, and saw that we had to get on the end of a line, order our meal, pay for it, and then pick it up when it is ready.
You can stand in line if you wish, look at the menu board above the counter, and do it that way too.
We chose a large pizza @ $12.90, and added Italian sausage, and pepperoni, which brought it up to $15.99. We also went for the meatball parmigina sub @ $6.90. Len had a medium diet coke @ $1.75, with free refills.
I got talking to the couple behind me, and they too, had a Groupon.
The restaurant was fairly busy, and we were pleasantly surprised how quickly our food came out. The large pizza was steaming hot, and so was the sub. We each had a slice of the pizza, and this was a thin crust one. There was just the right amount of sauce on it, lots of cheese, and the top was completely covered in sausage and pepperoni. We enjoyed it.
The sub was cut down the middle, so we each put our half on a plate. The bread was to die for. It says on the menu "house baked subs', and that really made the meal. There were 5 meatballs in it, and it was laden with sauce, and cheese.
Len went back for more diet coke, and I had a glass of iced water.
The people I had been in line with came over to tell me how good their food was, and also that they had the best 'doubleshot espresso'. They said that they would be back again.
I want to go back and try other items on the menu, such as the antipasto, calzones, the desserts, smoothies, and the coffee. They also have homemade sangria, beer, and wine.
You never know when you are going to find a new place that becomes a favorite. Today we did.
