This morning, Britney Spears released her long-awaited new single "Work Bitch." Though it isn't as complex as some of her other club anthems such as "Toxic," it is instantly edible and will be a huge club banger. Think of Janet Jackson's "Throb" from 1993 multiplied by ten.
Unlike Lady Gaga and her dreadful single "Applause," Britney is having fun and not taking herself too seriously with "Work Bitch." Truth be told, Britney's singing is secondary to the addicting production. We long for the days where Britney shows at least some vocal chops, but it isn't happening here and it doesn't need to happen.
It is interesting that the word "Bitch" in the song isn't offending anybody, and it shouldn't. When Britney says "Bitch," she isn't necessarily making a female insult. She is pushing someone to work harder and achieve their goals. "Bitch" here is used metaphorically. In any case, we predict Britney will have another number one single with this song. It's something you just can't get out of your head. It also sounds great listening with Bose or Beats headphones.
