Last month we went to the Britannia Arms pub, which is only a short distance from our timeshare, in Treasure Island. We had previously been to the Moon Under Water pub in downtown St. Petersburg, and were interested to see how they compared.
We went on a Friday afternoon, and saw that they had 'Any curry buy 1 get 1 free with the purchase of 2 beverages. I could have gone for it, but Len and our friends wanted to try other items.
Len had the bangers and mash, our friends the liver and onions, a bowl of soup, and I went for the steak and ale pie.
I liked that my meal came with fresh vegetables, but the meat was tough. Len said, that the bangers didn't have such a good taste, as other pubs. They were on the hard side. Our friends liked the liver and onions.
I wanted a little more gravy with my mashed potatoes, and it was brought out to me.
They didn't have any British desserts, or any products to buy. There wasn't anyone there that was British. Such a shame because that alone could increase their sales.
When the check came I had a charge of $1.25 for the extra gravy. I wasn't happy about this, and it was taken off the bill. If we had bought a buy one get one free I could have understood, but not when the bill comes to around $60.
I took lots of photos of the food, and should have done this review straight away, as I had problems with my phone, and a new one was sent. Some of my pictures disappeared, including the dozen or more ones I took of the food.
Len and I said that we would go back for a buy one get one free, but didn't think it was worth the money, paying the full price. Moon under water beat it hands down.
If there is an improvement after our next visit, I will write about it, and promise photos.
