Breaking Dawn 2 Review

I have watched Breaking Dawn 2 now several times. I went the day it opened in Fresno, CA. I think I’ve been reluctant to review it only because it is the last, final movie of the saga and I am sad to see it end. However, I think they did a phenomenal job on it from book to movie and adding in a special trick ending that still falls within the rules of the storyline.

I think that Twilight fans did a great job of not spoiling the ending for those who have waited to see it, because just recently I saw it again and most of the audience screamed in surprise still! I also agree with the author that it fit within the book, in that the ending fight scene was already implied, we just couldn't see the details. You can read more about this on Stephenie Meyer's website, but beware of spoilers!

The surprise, or trick, ending is what got me the most. It is the most grueling to watch for some of us who have favorites affected. Therefore, I was relieved to find out what really happened, which did stick to the book. I won’t say much more of that part or I’ll end up spoiling it for those who’ve not yet seen it. It is definitely worth watching simply for the shock factor. I think I would have been fine without it, but I know most like a good fight!

It is bittersweet to see the last one on film, knowing we won’t get to wait for another midnight showing to see Edward, Jacob or Bella. Unless of course, Stephenie Meyer chooses to write more of the series. We can at least be at peace knowing that The Host movie is just around the corner on March 29th, 2013. Not so far away!

Other than that, I thought Jacob was much more mature, yet funny and endearing. It was of course fun to see what Renesmee looked like on screen. And, the visiting vampires to help out definitely added flavor to the story and on screen.

Another great aspect of the story on screen was Bella being a shield. Especially in the way they showed them training her and how Edward helped at first and then wanted other volunteers, but no one would against the shocks from their cousin. It was a pretty funny scene, one of my favorites. I also liked the part where Alice shows Edward a glimpse of all of their futures, together. It was a very nice ending. Along with Bella lifting her shield to show Edward her thoughts once and for all. It really ended the story and saga perfectly, when they agreed they had “forever”. The story will in fact be with all of us fans, forever.
