He was raised in a poor Native American village where he experienced first-hand the effects of economic dependency. He now wants to expose its reality and reverse it.
Calvin Helin believes that financial handouts like welfare checks and government bailouts instill a false sense of entitlement and breed attitudes like victim thinking, lack of confidence, learned helplessness and inability to cope with adversity. It creates the absence of self-responsibility and accountability. These mindsets are then passed from generation to generation He believes that this kind of thinking produces an attitude similar to middle-class parents who lavish newfound wealth on their children, which he says can create:
