Dead Rising 3” was arguably the most noteworthy title in the list of games Microsoft announced at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles for the launch of their Xbox One. Though the second game in the zombie themed series did make it to Sony’s Playstation 3, due to the first game’s exclusive agreement with Microsoft, the franchise is typically considered an Xbox title. Known for its weapon crafting and brutal time limits, the “Dead Rising” formula has been made a little more accessible in its third iteration. “Dead Rising 3” allows a little more time to enjoy the game, but the gameplay area and crafting options have been greatly expanded.

“Dead Rising 3” puts players in the role of Nick Ramos, a mechanic with a mysterious past. If you try out the co-op offering, one player will take the role of another survivor named Dick. As a mechanic, Nick is pretty handy at building zombie destroying utilities. With so much to do and build in “Dead Rising 3” and limited amount of time to do it, a little bit of help is certainly welcome. That’s where BradyGames comes in. The guide provides maps of Capcom’s fictitious imagining of Los Angeles, Los Perdidos and reveals everything necessary to ensure Nick's survival.

Unlike guides for similar sandbox games like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Saint’s Row,” the “Dead Rising 3 Guide” reads more like a normal book. Because of the time limitations, it’s important that you stay on task throughout the game. The guide tries to avoid spoilers as much as possible, but an unintended consequence is that portions of the book can seem a bit vague. This will cause many to pour over 250 page offering looking for clues. That doesn’t mean that I don’t recommend the book. If for nothing else, the “BradyGames Dead Rising 3 Official Strategy Guide” is essential for the maps it provides in addition to the help with the bosses.
