Bradshaw Social House
8440 Rea Road
Charlotte, NC 28277
This place was recommended to me by a friend and I otherwise heard good things about it.
It’s located in Ballantyne at 8440 Rea Rd in the Village at Robinson Farm, around the corner from Cosmos Cafe. My friend and I arrived fairly early on a warm evening and it was already packed to the latches. We mostly hung out on the patio which faces the courtyard and ordered from the inside bar. There was a diverse crowd of couples, groups and young singles, especially ladies. It seemed to have the genuine vibe of a local gastropub and not just the trendy “newness” factor.
The main dining area is a large open space with highboy pub tables surrounded by the L-shaped bar running along the walls. The large roll-up garage-style doors are kept open when weather permits. They have lots of TV’s and the space is easily navigable. There are plenty of beers on tap, including some local micro-brews. The bar staff was friendly and as attentive as could be with a packed house. I did hear some grumblings about the wait staff, but it was a busy night, so I will reserve judgment on that. An acoustic duo played live and was well received by the crowd. They also feature an in house sound-system.
The biggest knock on this place from almost everyone is the level of noise. The layout, coupled with the type of materials used in the furniture and décor (wood, concrete, etc.) makes for an acoustic artillery range. It’s very loud for a place of its type, but that can be remedied by a baffling or noise suppressing system being installed at some point. This place definitely falls into the new Ballantyne trend of being a tavern or pub with nightclub-style appeal. I recommend wearing nice casual evening attire and make sure to check out the live band schedule in advance.
