Although I like sweet potatoes, I rarely eat them. When I saw the new Baked Sweet Potato Fries from Boulder Canyon, I didn’t miss the chance to try them out. The sweet potato fries are intelligently shaped in the form of the traditional side dish, are thin, have a sweet potato orange-y color and come with some bits of salt. They have a light taste and are "super delicious". Everybody who is a fan of snack food will very soon get hooked.
If you look at the ingredients, you will be surprised to see that they are made with corn meal, sweet potato powder, cane sugar, rice flour, molasses, caramel color, sunflower oil and salt. In other words, they are not real sweet potatoes cut in pieces. As they are baked, are lighter and low in calories compared to the heavily fried chips available in the market.
On the nutrition facts front, each serving of 28 grams has only 120 calories, 60 of which is fat. The serving has 7 grams of total fats and 1 gram of saturated fats. The sweet potatoes are free from trans fats and cholesterol. There 16 grams of carbs and unexpectedly for sweet potatoes only 3 grams of sugar in each serving. Those fries are also gluten-free, kosher certified and non-GMO. It is available in a 6-oz. bag.
I like the Baked Sweet Potato Fries from Boulder Canyon even if they are not real sweet potatoes. They taste good, are low in calories and are addictive. To balance off the sweet flavor, try them with some spicy mayo dips or even Tabasco!
