The Color of Butterflies is a lovely book of poetry by Tina Mae Lawson. The best way to describe this book is that it is an emotional journal that depicts life as the author experienced it and sees it through her own mind and imagination.
There are no apparent titles for each poem and it is written almost like a journal of various experiences through time filled with emotions, pain and lessons learned. What I liked about this book is that the author seemed to take a very personal approach about the joys and pains of life, love and just living. As many of the poems are very relatable in this universal existence we call life...
The effectiveness of the poetry was affected by the lack of apparent titles for the poems presented in this book, as there is no table of content in this book either. There were also some grammatical errors that I found distracting, but could have been done for effect. The book cover was lovely and depicted the book very well. My favorite poem is on page 44; it's about Love and how it can put you on a natural high, but can also bring you to a very painful low that can drive you insane.
There are approximately 73 pages in this book of poetry. It was a very nice read.
