"Never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret." That's how the saying goes and just like TNT, Sara Shepard knows drama.
High school sure has changed as we meet Spencer, Emily, Aria, and Hanna for the first time. There is one girl missing from their group and it is yet to be known what exactly happened to her. All together they make up the Pretty Little Liars of this neat little suburb.
Alison knew how to bring them together and all the girls at school wanted to be just like her. They wanted to be a field hockey jock like her, smoke like her, swear like her, drink like her, and most of all, talk to the boys like her. You could share anything with her, but be careful what secrets you allow to unfold--Rosewood, PA talks.
Aria is seeing an older guy, except he also happens to be her English teacher. Oops. Spencer is seeing a guy too--Wren, who is dating Melissa, who is her older sister. Emily's going out with Ben, but starting to getting to know Maya, the new girl in town who now occupies Ali's old bedroom. Only she's getting to know her a little too well when Ben catches them in a photo booth that might as well have been called a kissing booth instead. Hanna wishes Ali could see her now in all her popular, skinny girl glory.
Each girl thinks she's safe until mysterious messages pop up in e-mails, texts, notes, and letters, all signed with -A. Who is A? All these messages have something on there that only Ali knew about each girl. So who told? Or really, who's watching?
Shepard knows how to hook you in and takes you straight back to high school or helps you see a whole side of high school you had no idea before. You get nervous along with the girls and book one leaves you wondering what is going to happen next in the series, in Flawless. YA fans will gobble this one up in a second!
