Kathryn the Grape’s Piece of Love by Kathryn Cloward is an inspirational picture book about how kindness and love makes the world a better place. In the book, Kathryn and her classmates are learning about the Earth and are asked to answer the question “What is something you do for our planet and others?” The answers, especially Kathryn’s about love, are can be useful in helping inspiring kids to care for the each other and the planet.
Overall Kathryn the Grape’s Piece of Love is an entertaining while also informative read for ages 4 to 9. Beyond just having a lesson on what kids can and do to make the world a better place, it also provides some great advice that can help children clear their mind of worry and complete tasks with an analogy of a beaver and a dam. However, one issue with the book is that some pages have text that blends into the background making it difficult to read, which can be particularly frustrating for the age group it is geared towards including beginning readers.
