How does it feel to return to one's hometown after years of absence? To answer this question, let us follow Autumn Greene, a single mother who has decided that she would attend her sister's wedding in Hematite. However, there is one problem: She is not invited. What ensues is complete chaos.
In a recent interview, author Patti Grayson had this to say about the title of her novel: "I loved the playfulness of juxtaposing the two seasons. Plus, I have an odd fascination for punctuation in titles – I really wanted a comma." Truly, it is this fascination for accuracy and details that makes "Autumn, One Spring" such a good read.
Grayson is an author of great talent. Not only does she know how to write a witty and solid story, but she is also able to create characters that speak to the reader from the first page. Through her inner struggles and questions, Autumn is forced to realize that the apparent discrepancy between fantasy and reality is only a smoke screen that reveals her almost uncontrollable desire for acceptance — and love. In that sense, she becomes a symbol of what every woman has to go through in life, no matter her age. The misunderstandings of which Autumn is the victim are also reminiscent of what human beings often use or create to keep the status quo intact: labels.
"Autumn, One Spring" is a funny, entertaining and sincere study of relationships. You will enjoy it!
The novel is available for purchase at Turnstone Press and Amazon.
