Nine tracks equate to the sum of all fears for doubters. BrainGang Blue silenced the city of Dallas by simply forcing them to turn up the volume.
BrainGang Blue hits another musical homerun with his new EP entitled “, Numb.” He perfected the art of portraying emotional frigidness while simultaneously creating strangely addicting, audial sensations in the ears of listeners.
“Numb” serves as impeccable background music for consuming nose candy, a rave session, or that cocky moment while checking yourself out before a fun night. Blue’s beats are just as addicting as the powdery and leafy subject matter. Every single track. Here are some honorable mentions.
#1 “Overnight Overdose”: This record is the perfect opener for what could be interpreted as a musical and edgy version of “Alice & Wonderland.” The controlled chaos accompanied with the “Marvin’s Room” sample is refreshing and jam-worthy.
#2 “Party On”: The first verse alone throws shade on every BrainGang cynic. This dark, melancholy, but enticing spin on the usual party scene is raw and gives “Everyone Nose” a run for its money.
#3 “More Fiends & Friends” ft. JT : Blue said it best, “I don’t need no hook, this beat my hook.” Blunt and true. The production on this track is so impressive that he really does not need a lot of extra filler lyrics to make it great like a lot of artists do. JT’s appearance is reminiscent of Drake during his “So Far Gone” days. The “Like a Pimp” sample is super epic as well.
#4 “At My Funeral”: Not since “Another One Bites the Dust” has a song gave a death a strange and alluring glow. Who knew that funerals could be a party with models and Big Tuck playing in the background? Provocative.
#8 “Back To Reality”: En Vogue would have never imagined an appearance in a hardcore hip hop song such as this one. This track is equally smooth and abrasive. The conflict of R&B and all things dark complements it well as salt accompanies a margarita.
#9 “F--- That Noise”: Blue saved the best for last. This is the quintessential theme song for the callous and cocky jerks of the world. This song single-handedly flicks off adverse opinions and makes personal pedestal placing and egos seem not as arrogant.
This EP is like the lime one chews after a shot of Tequila. It temporarily takes away the discomforting feeling life may give someone. The cynical and humorous point of view is entertaining, and intriguing. The musical competition is now blue in the face.
