If you could not attend the 12th annual Family Night on Broadway performance of Blue Man Group, you can still enjoy the festivities that the Times Union Center’s Moran Theater will continue until this Sunday. Some days have two presentations; check here for dates and times. On opening night, there was hardly a seat left unattended, so you better hurry and reserve your seats today.

This rhythmic spectacle wasn’t just for kiddies. The 12 things that most early attendees participated with proved that there was fun-for-all. The activities of the evening gave little children, tweens, teens and the older generation, a chance to reach back into their memory banks and recollect times-gone-by as they experience the elation that lingered through the hallways before the actual show began. Click here to see some of the sights; you’ll have to attend the show to appreciate the sounds.

Blue Man Group is a percussion paradise that’s also accompanied with guitar, full set of drums and a keyboard. These talented musicians also incorporate silent acting (mime) in various skits. There are a couple of times that individuals are escorted up to the stage to be a part of the gaiety. This adds to the excitement and entertainment. Blue Man Group is food for the eyes & ears. The lighting is superb too.

Towards the end of the one and a half hour display, the giant floating balls (see the video) came out to play. You should have seen all the adults (including my Husband and myself) trying to bat these balls around the auditorium. Our Grandchild was a little apprehensive, but she enjoyed taking a swat at the big round spheres from her Grandpa’s shoulder (since she’s only 5, she let her Mama know that the balls had scared her, and she didn’t like the blue men coming near her). Go figure!.

Seeing Blue Man Group at the Times Union Center is better than seeing them in an arena. It’s like having them in your living room while not having to watch them on TV. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with your family, coworker and friends. Oh, BTW, if you happen to get a seat up front, you will be outfitted with a waterproof poncho to keep you dry.
