My take: (the breakdown)
Universal is not usually considered the best studio when it comes to animation, but if they keep releasing movies like Despicable Me they will be as famous as Pixar and Dreamworks when it comes to animation. Gru is the world's premier thief/villain/mastermind, but when the Great Pyramid of Giza is stolen without a trace he decides to undertake a heist even that is much more daring. Since he was a child Gru has dreamed of going to the moon and now he plans to steal it with the help of a Shrink Ray that he must obtain from a fellow villain known Vector. With the help of his minions, Dr. Nefario, and three unlikely girls Gru will discover that there is more to life that being the best villain in the world. Will Gru be able to becomes the man his mother never said he would become? This is definitely one for the entire family that belongs one everyone's shelf.
Everything about Despicable Me screams reference material from start to finish. The colors are perfect right down to Gru's pale skin, the minions' stark yellow, to bright whites of Vector's house. Grain is of course absent since this is a direct-to-digital presentation. Fine detail is right on par with animated titles from Pixar, Disney, and Dreamworks. I simply could find nothing to complain about with this transfer and I highly doubt that you will either.

Equally impressive as Despicable Me's transfer is its 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. Dialogue is always clear and understandable even when Gru is whispering or the girls are talking rather quietly. The surrounds are engaged a fair amount of the time and the pans between the fronts and surrounds are extremely accurate. There are also a few scenes where the LFE is called upon and it sounds well done without becoming overbearing. Like the video quality this lossless track is absolutely flawless.
Despicable Me arrives on Blu-ray with a healthy amount of supplemental material that should keep you busy for a couple hours. First up is an in depth audio commentary with the director's that cover everything from the original story to the actual animation process. Next is a PiP feature called Gru-Control, which is good for the kids if you happen to have some of those. Rounding out the supplements are several making-of features that include three mini-movies, five cookie recipes, games, and two trailers for the video game. There are also two additional discs that contain the DVD and Digital Copies for the movie.
Movie: 8/10
VQ: 10/10
AQ: 10/10
Supplements: 7/10
Final Word: A Must Own
As always thanks for reading folks.
