Lynch-Bages, classified as a fifth growth when the 1855 Classification was released. The quality of the wine is much higher than it’s classification. Mostly know for its Cabernet Sauvignon based wines from Pauillac. In 1990 they started producing their white wine, Blanc de Lynch-Bages. Usually made of almost equal parts of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon the remaining balance being Muscadelle. The aging consists of 50% new French oak and 50% large vats.
Blanc de Lynch-Bages, 2005 is a rich golden yellow in the glass. The aromas are tight at first, but after swirling the aromas a coaxed out. Peach, lemon, grapefruit, and wet slate emerge from the rim of the glass. Light citrus, wild flowers; hints of tropical fruits and minerals please the palate. There is a slight alcoholic flavor on the finish.
Drink this with white fish, even some chicken dishes with a citrus sauce.
