New music from some seasoned musicians that have come together to form a new band called “Black Map.” These guys blew me away with their four song EP that was just released on Feb. 25th via iTunes. Grunge infused with caffeinated energy explodes with all the vibe and power of Deftones meets Foo Fighters and keeps you waiting for more. From the first chords of “Gold” I was hooked immediately.

Black Map is:

dredg guitarist Mark Engles - Guitar

The Trophy Fire singer/guitarist Ben Flanagan – Vocals and Bass

ex-Crosses drummer Chris Robyn - Drums

The debut is titled “Driver” and the tracklist is:

1. I'm Just the Driver

2. Gold

3. Head for the Hills

4. Ropes

The band went in a heavier direction than what they used to do while maintaining the melody. Their 90’s rock influences shine through in the music as noticed in the above references of bands that hit me immediately. The band released their first video, with no pomp or circumstance, back in November 2013 and was blown away by the response and were shortly thereafter featured on BBC Radio 1’s “Rock Show” for one of their “Best Tracks of 2013.”

Go take a listen and buy Driver by Black Map immediately, it is a must addition to your play list!
