This past week, I re-visited Bistro Citron, a fine french restaurant located in the town of roslyn. Bistro Citron is an authentic parisian style bistro with a magnificent dining room/bar with a stained glass ceiling, and indoor/ outdoor seating. The restaurant is managed by Steve Sohmer their new GM who is warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Steve is a culinary professional and has a unique knack of making his guests feel like valued friends.

We began our french culinary journey with suggestions from Steve:

Soupe a l' Oignon- A fabulous, French onion soup with a thick layer of Gruyere cheese, and croutons.

This was followed by two salads:

A Salade Caesar- A traditional caesar salad with anchovies, egg, and a delicious caesar dressing.

A Salade Citron- mixed greens, artichokes, tomatoes, cucumber, citrus vinaigrette an excellent contrast to the caesar.

We also shared a small plate of Moulet Chorizo- mussels and spanish sausage, pepper, and tomato. Large black mussels with a delightful sweet meat in a natural sauce . Superb!

For our entree selections:

We were served a sensational "Steak Au Poivre" - a generous plate of pepper seared steak, with french beans, potato gratin and a peppercorn sauce with a delightful "kick"

We also shared a Carre d;Agneau- A roasted rack of lamb, carrots, purple potato, cippolini onion, picholine olives, dry cherries, almonds, pomegranate sauce. A total visual and taste treat..

I could not resist ordering a small portion of Citron's famed pommes frites- french fried potatoes thin, crisp, salted to perfection and tasted like more.....

Steve then introduced us to Executive chef Alex Petard, a young french chef who brings his exciting country french style cuisine to the north shore. Chef Petard was enthusiastic, charming and gave us insights into his culinary background.

The evening was now coming to an end and for dessert, we were delighted to sample a small tray of luscious chocolate cakes and desserts.

After coffee and tea we bid adieu to Bistro Citron, where fine food, excellent service and a new GM with an upbeat manner, made for a fabulous evening.

Kudos to GM Steve Sohmer and Executive Chef Alex Petard, for a delicious and superb dining experience.
