The latest CD from Bill Cote` titled Where Do You Start was 20 years in the making. Sometimes it isn't too late. The album is filled with very nice arrangements and the musicians really complement the artist. The Tamir Hendelman Trio are backing up Cote`on this project. Tamir provides outstanding piano work and Bob Sheppard does his usual fine work on saxophone and flute. Joe La Barbera is splendid on drums as are Graham Dechter on guitar and Martin Wood on bass.
Bill Cote`has that rich baritone voice that is smooth throughout album. He kind of reminds me of Roger Whitacker from back in the day. This album is filled with some of the great songs that have been recorded by several musical artists over the years including: Teach Me Tonight, Satin Doll, My Funny Valentine, On A Clear Day and When Sunny Gets Blue. Cote` does a really fine job on L.A. State of Mind which is a take on the classic New York State of Mind.
There is a lot to like about this CD. Years ago this music was called the music of your life. I think it is still the music of your life. The current generation can enjoy this music as it is about the lyrics and the music. That never changes and it will certainly be around for future generations to enjoy. I give a big thumbs up to Bill Cote` and all the musicians who helped make this CD. Good job and a job well done.
