'Besieged: Part One’ is an engaging 'Doctor Who' fan film

New "Doctor Who" fan film “Besieged: Part One” is helping to change the perception of fan films. While many think of basements, cardboard sets and foam props when one brings up the idea of fan film, many new fans are changing the perception. Ryan Hendrick and crew have not only succeeded in making a quality fan film, they even utilize cross-fictioning to bring the story to life.

Written, produced and staring Ryan Hendrick, “Besieged: Part One” is a suspenseful tale of the HMS Archer and her crew. Utilizing sun splitting technology, they are trying to find cures for diseases running rampant on Earth. When the experiment goes awry, The Doctor and his companion Ade appear to try and save the crew. Little does The Doctor know, but he will soon be facing one of his greatest foes; the Aliens from “Alien”.

For fans of the film, there is a whole group of fun videos such as prequels, video diaries, trailers and behind the scenes interviews. Hendrick has worked diligently to create not only a film, but a world for fans to become lost in. Directed by Lauren Lamarr, the cinematography is breathtaking, especially for a not for profit fan film. While technology helps to heighten the suspense and ambiance, the visual effects help add to the story and not hinder it.

The second part of “Besieged” will be released later this year. To find out more about the film, please visit their website. To watch the film and other videos, please visit YouTube.
