Benjah’s ‘Vanity Fare’ is my first Benjah album… and it’s great! Very catchy and Benjah is definitely unique. There’s something about his style that’s just different, in a good way. I really love track two of the album, “Love Signs.” It just sticks in your head.
What I like about this album too, is that not only does it introduce me to Benjah for the first time… It also features several other artists in the genre that I’m not familiar with. I have to be honest I don’t listen to a lot of Christian Hip-Hop… mainly because there’s no radio station for it in my area. The other reason is that I’m just not into most hip-hop, but I really like this album from Benjah.
Benjah’s album, ‘Vanity Fare’ delivers the message I think he had in mind… It tells the story of all the vanity in our lives and it does it very well from beginning to end.
I also love the message in track 4, ‘Action.’ The song says something like, “Doesn’t really matter what we do, just matters that we take His cue.” It’s a great reminder that we all have a part in God’s plan, as long as we do whatever we do to bring Him glory. That’s what I get out of it.
I can honestly say that I’ve never heard Christian Hip Hop as great as this! I’m not big on computerized vocal effects either, but I thought it was kind of cool how Benjah implemented them throughout the album.
You’ll have to excuse me, I’m not mentioning the featured artists by name because I’m not familiar with them and I don’t want to name the wrong people… Because some tracks feature multiple artists, but I will say as a whole, they all are excellent! I think Benjah picked the perfect tracks to feature each artist in to complement their talents.
I think track 7, “Stones” is my favorite… just something about it, maybe it’s the rock feel, but this track is just awesome! I love how he sings in this one and the chorus is very cool. I also love track 9, reminds me a bit of Bob Marley and again just very catchy. There’s no way you’re going to get through this entire album, without getting something stuck in your head! You would basically have to have no appreciation for art, if you didn’t find something you liked about this album.
There’s a lot of variety in this album, I wasn’t expecting track 11 at all. It’s really beautiful and slow, nice piano playing and shows a great range in vocals. If you’ve never checked out Benjah before, this album is a good place to start!
I think everyone who gives this album a chance is going to find at least one song that ends up on their regular playlist… probably quite a few songs actually. It’s really a great album and I can appreciate every track. It’s great, I give this album 5/5! Keep on spreading the message Benjah!
This album was not done in vain, I believe that Benjah believed every word that came out of his mouth. He performed with passion and conviction. Great album, I can't wait to hear more!
'Vanity Fare' by Benjah is available everywhere, tomorrow March 19, 2013.
