"All's Lost, All's Found" by Ben Gortman is a gentle Singer-Songwriter / Folk album.
The opening track entitled "As I Mused, the Fire Burned" is an instrumental piece, the title of which is very easily conjured imagery to pair with the sound. A heavy piano line circles around melancholy waves of musical thought.
The second track entitled "Hold on Sister" introduces us to Ben, with his soft voice accenting tinny acoustic melodies and rising string sections.
At times Gortman's vocals are thickly layered, but they stay subtle. Larger productions pop up throughout the album with ambient atmospheres being created through wet synths and distant reversed sound clips.
The style is very reminiscent to Bon Iver's album "For Emma, Forever Ago", and will most definitely appeal to fans of that record and sound.
