"The Boat of the Fragile Mind" by Belle Mare is a moody Dream Pop EP, heavy in textures and that create a distinct ambiance.
Instrumentally a lone guitar can be found in most pieces, with distant and heavily effected background instruments that color everything with an eerie and melancholy paintbrush... creating very heady sonic worlds for the listener in each track.
The vocals are often drowned in reverb, but suitably so, and the mix is a very enjoyable one. In tracks like "The City" a more pleasant and catchy vocal melody causes the lyrics to stand out a bit more, and the lyrics are quite gripping and heartfelt- in their seemingly innocent and light nature.
The haunting atmospheres Mare creates evoke imagery of scenes that take place in stoic and broken landscapes, everything slightly crooked and stained different shades of purple. The sound is very similar to what the band Supernatural Christians may sound like if it had a female front woman.
