Terry Ross and Lisa Bruhn are about to start production on their new movie called carving a Life. They are crowd funding with the goal of $48,000 for the production taping in San Diego this fall. This project is a stand out for a lot of different reasons.
The story follows Mitch’s journey to overcome his internal struggles and create a “normal” life for himself. He is haunted my memories of his mother’s death. He must overcome his addiction to alcohol or lose the most precious parts of his life forever! The film takes us through all the twists and turns as he sorts his life out. It’s a compelling story.
On their Kickstarter page, they clearly outline the use of funds. 100$ goes to the production and marketing of the film. The cast and crew for this film are local and have passion as well as experience in filmmaking. It will be a Screen Actors Guild Ultra Low Budget Film. This is how they were able to hire SAG actors. Casting Navid Negahban of Showtime’s Homeland in this new indie film gives just a hint of the quality acting you will see in this movie.
Terry Ross being a smart filmmaker saved money by getting the locations donated. The perks offer include a mystery prop from the set, VIP tickets to the Los Angeles Premier, Lunch with cast and crew and even getting a part in the film! There are even Walk-On Roles that will give you the star treatment and Executive Producer spots offered.
Industry experts are giving the project rave reviews. Jen Gristanti, Story Consultant and Executive at Spelling Television said, “I like the concept, the world and the characters”. With about 2 weeks left, they are looking for a huge boost in contributions.
As will all crowdfunding projects, before you give are responsible for your own choices and must practice your own due diligence.
If you have ever wanted to get into the movies as an actor or be an Executive producer, this might be the project for you. The depth of the script along with actors who are good enough to pull it off is a seductive combination.
