Though it was one of the top three restaurant experiences I've ever had in the world, without having experienced all the countries in Europe, I'm going to stop short and only call Beccafico the Best Restaurant Experience in Venice.
Truly magical cuisine. It was the type of food that transports you into a different place and time and whatever has been going on prior to that, almost dissipates for the moment you're eating.
My restaurant experience at Beccafico began with the first-class waiter who before he even knew I was doing a review, truly treated me like royalty.
I was treated to an amazing mini-pizza slice for an appetizer, followed by a delectable toasted bread creation topped with fresh tomatoes.
I have to say that I was already in heaven before the main course, a four cheese pasta that was like ecstasy to my mouth.
I sipped on their white house wine while watching the Venetians walking by missing out on probably one of the greatest meals in Italy, if not the world. I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for them.
Although I could barely fit any more food in my belly, and had to adjust my belt accordingly, they insisted on me trying their citrus flavored sorbet that was encompassed in a tangerine peel. I'm glad I accepted their suggestion.
The clientele at Beccafico is very upscale so you should expect to dress formally even for lunch. It is packed for a reason so try to arrive early and make a reservation rather than dropping by spontaneously.
Highly recommend (5-stars - but only because I cannot give it 20 stars)
