Beauty subscriptions: Ipsy

Ipsy, formerly known as MyGlam Bag, is a subscription service that offers five to six deluxe sized samples in a small cosmetics bag. For $10 a month a new bag is sent to you each and every month unless you unsubscribe.

I've heard several people talk about the fact that the bags really used to be awful, but they've gotten a lot better. I can't speak to that, but I can say that I've subscribed since January and have been very pleased with the samples I've received.

In January I received a full-size bottle of Nailtini nail lacquer, a small bottle of Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil, a generous mini bottle of Pacifica Body Butter (in Tuscan Blood Orange), a generous sample of Spry & Play Volumizing Hair Spray and a full-size SOHO Concealer brush. All of this arrived in a cute makeup bag.

February's makeup bag was a vinyl oxblood, almost black, bag. Inside I had a generous sample of Pixi's Flawless & Poreless Primer, two Lash Cards, a full-size MicaBeauty Gel Eyeliner, a sample size of POP Beauty Smokey Lash Kapow Mascara and a sample quad of Coastal Scents eye shadow.

All of the samples have been large enough to use more than once or twice and Ipsy offers a discount on a purchase of the full-size version if you order before the next bag ships. Rumor has it that sometimes special full-size gifts are slipped into subscribers' bags.

If you like samples and trying new beauty products, Ipsy may be an option for you.

(I purchased these samples myself through Ipsy's subscription service.)
