If you are looking for a place to sit and have a cup of coffee, Bean and Bite is not the place. It’s not a traditional coffee house. It's a delicatessen that "serves as the go-to destination for unique house-made pastries, confections, sandwiches, salads, and desserts." Patrons working in the downtown area drop in to order a bagel or get a cup of coffee to go before starting the work day.

This examiner dropped in before her internship with the expectation to find something interesting. Quite frankly, there was nothing too interesting about this coffee shop. For starters, she was expecting to see food stocked in the refrigerated pantry. The inventory was rather scanty. I didn't see the sandwiches or the salads that they had on their menu. And there weren't any ready made desserts on display. There were cookies but was expecting whoopee pies. There were pastries--croissants, bear claws, and bagels. They were "supersized".

This examiner ordered for breakfast a chocolate croissant; bacon and egg sandwich on a wheat bagel; and Kilogram organic king crimson tea. The chocolate croissant was not impressive. There was hardly any chocolate flavor. It was more bread. And she couldn’t finish it. The bagel sandwich was bland. The eggs could have been seasoned and she wondered if they actually did prepare this sandwich by hand. The tea was the best thing ordered. This is the only thing that was aromatic. The tea was a wonderful blend of citrus, lemongrass and hibiscus.

This examiner did drop in at Bean and Bite the second time. But she decided not to buy anything more. She didn't want to be disappointed the second time around. One visit was enough.
