Humble Pie is the newest restaurant to open in the Stetson Village shopping center, located at 39th Avenue and Happy Valley Road. Their specialty is a variety of mouth-watering wood-fired pizzas, pastas and sandwiches with extensive wine and drink list to boot.
Friendly wait staff greets you at the door and offers the choice of patio dining. The inside is a little on the small side so sitting on the patio seemed like a good choice for a mild temperature afternoon. When seated, you are given a menu that resembles a small children’s book in its pages of offerings, a surprise for such a small restaurant.
Italian standbys like bruschetta and antipasto are listed in the ‘starters’ section along with American fare like steak and turkey chili. There are 23 different choices for the wood-fired pizza with toppings ranging from fig and prosciutto, to buffalo chicken with ranch dressing. Specialty cocktails, beer and an entire section devoted to wine round out the extensive menu.
The wait staff was very attentive and able to answer any questions thrown their way with a smile. The French fries came highly recommended and were a unique and savory surprise—with parsley, garlic, lemon zest, pecorino cheese, and chili flakes with garlic aioli.
The lunch specials were a very good value at under $10 for a 9-inch pizza of any of the listed pizzas on the menu and a half of a salad (again, any salad on the menu) or half of a sandwich and half of a salad.
The margherita pizza had the perfect blend of in-house made mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil and the chopped salad had a wonderful mix of turkey, salami, mozzarella, tomatoes, lettuce and herbaceous vinaigrette.
Humble Pie had an ambiance that was as entertaining and fun as the wait staff, with top 40 music coming from the speakers that wasn’t too high so you can still carry on a conversation. Good food, fun and friendly people sum up the experience at this restaurant and it comes highly recommended.
