Warner Archive brings "Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Complete First Season" to Blu-ray for the first time in a 2-Disc edition versus the different volumes it was originally released in a few years back. All 26 episodes are here for fans waiting frantically to get them in high-definition. For those who might not know, this series has more in common with the camp approach to the Caped Crusader than Christopher Nolan's grimmer "Dark Knight" Trilogy.

Batman prides himself on protecting the city of Gotham City as a solo crime fighter. However, there are many times when the world is threatened on a global scale. Our hero must join forces with the likes of Aquaman, Plastic Man, Green Arrow, Wild Cat, Dr. Fate, and many others when these perils reveal themselves.

The audio and video quality is top-notch for "Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Complete First Season." The picture is clean and the colors are vibrant the way they should be. It's obvious the show was influenced by the eye-popping art styles of Bob Kane and Dick Sprang.

The 5.1 surround sound audio delivers the dialogue and musical score in excellent clarity. This comes in extra handy when there's an entire episode centered on a villain named the Music Meister who causes everyone to sing what they're saying. Every bam, boom, zoink, and klunk can be heard and doesn't need to be spelled out onscreen like they were in 1966.

The main target audience for "Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Complete First Season" is children. Some parents might be alarmed by the amount of magic used in the show. There are also references to different gods other than the Christian one. If your child can separate fantasy from real-life and you don't mind some spells being spouted or deity figures in the vein of Greek gods appearing, you shouldn't have a problem.

"Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Complete First Season" will thrill enthusiasts of the 1960's Batman TV show starring Adam West and Burt Ward. If you love the brightly colored sci-fi and fantasy exploits of the Caped Crusader from the 1950s and 1960s comic books, this will excite you as well. If you only see the Dark Knight through the glasses of Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan, you'll quite possibly find the series hard to swallow.

"Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Complete First Season" is available now on Blu-ray.
