In celebration of Bastone Brewery’s 10th anniversary, the restaurants at 5th and Main are honoring a decade of food and cheer with a month-long celebration.
This means Bastone, Vinotecca, Monk, and Craft have brought back some popular favorites from the past 10 years. Lunch and dinner specials, at $10 each, feature favorites from Café Habana (where Monk Beer Abbey now stands), as well as Bastone and Vinotecca.
I had a chance to sample some of the menu and came away impressed.
For starters, I had the Tarte Flambé (Vinotecca): A thin crust pizza with bacon crumbles, gently caramelized onions and herbs with mozzarella and fromage blanc. The crust was flavorful and the dish works well as a shared appetizer or a main course.
I remembered the Chicken Pasta from Bastone’s menu, so I thought I’d see if it was still just as good. This dish combines grilled chicken, cranberries and spinach with orechiette pasta in a sage cream sauce. You get savory and sweet, while the pasta cradles the sage cream sauce. Some nice layers of flavors here.
Finally, I had to order the Carne Asada, a Café Habana favorite, and probably the most popular item on the anniversary menu, according to my server. The marinated hanger steak was grilled to a perfect medium, and served atop a flavorful chimichurri sauce with yellow rice and garlic sautéed spinach. This was as good as I had remembered. The steak tender and juicy.
A couple craft beer pairing favorites- The Royal IPA is clean, with moderate hops and great with food, as are the wheat and blonde. My favorite is still Bastone's Belgian style Dubbel, with hints of dried fruit and a slightly sweet richness.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich (Bastone): Grilled chicken breast, cinnamon walnut bread, spinach and cranberry sauté, brie fondue
Spring Pizza (Vinotecca): Roasted tomato sauce, chicken, artichokes, spring onions and boursin cheese
Chicken Tortellini (Vinotecca): Fried chicken filets, wild mushrooms herbed tomato cream
