Barbetta restaurant is the perfect mix of dining and romance

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and there are probably endless amounts of people that are still looking for the perfect place to take their sweetheart to celebrate the special day. Forget about all of those fancy steakhouses and French restaurants with names that are impossible to pronounce; look no further than Barbetta.

Barbetta is the oldest Italian restaurant in New York City, boasting 106 years of excellent food and service, and is still owned by its founding family.

The exterior is charming and simple, while the interior marvels guests as they’re escorted to their seats. Owner Laura Maioglio, an antique collector, used historical eighteenth century antiques to style the restaurant like a Piemontese palace. The dining room is painted in earth tone of various brown shades,  and the tables and chairs are decorated to match. Gorgeous antique light fixtures, chandeliers, and curtains accent the room and really help to create a romantic feel. In the summer time, Barbetta also features dining in their outdoor garden, which is one of the most sought after spots in New York City.

The service at Barbetta is unmatched, and the attention to detail is impeccable. Some of the staff even still speaks Italian, and is more than happy to converse with guests in their native tongue and order in Italian. It’s not uncommon to have a few celebrity sightings while dining, as the restaurant is located in the heart of the Theater District. Robert Deniro is known to host parties upstairs in the private dining room. Also, episodes of sex & The City and films such as The Departed were shot in Barbetta.

The food is spectacular, keeping the traditional flavors and preparations of Piemontese cuisine true. The restaurant is offering a special multi-course dinner for $70 (pre-theater) or $85 (after 8:30) featuring music and dancing.

For reservations, call (212) 246-9171. Barbetta is located on 321 West 46th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenue), and participates in OpenTable for you convenience. For more information, visit www.barbettarestaurant.com
