Eastlake, OH. As an avid concert-goer I have seen and have worked side-by-side with hundreds of bands in the Northeast Ohio area and over the years have really had strong admiration for the artists that call this area home. All along the burnt river lies creativity, persistence, determination and above all, a love for music and the love for performing. Cleveland does not have the lack of any of that.
There are quite a few bands to really keep your eye on this year and I can really drag this out and name dozens but I will only throw out a couple and at the end will give you whom I think will rise above all the others.
2nd Half : has always been a local favorite which has always been extremely creative to produce magnificent pieces. Their live performances are extremely memorable and the guys are just great. You can but help but to really be drawn to them. They have recently released new material and I expect it to really help them.
Downcore: This Ashtabula band is extremely strong, they are have that AIC vibe, but above all, they sound really, really good!
Ringworm: these guys have been around for a long time and have not given up. If you are into the extreme sounds than you will really dig these guys.
Impending Lies: wow this band can also be classified as a supergroup. A strong history with the artists. They are strong on the heels of everyone to hear their message. A very hungry band with attitude!
Mourning Wagon: Well how can you not love these guys. The drummer is very active on a net radio show and gets constant airplay and talk up. So media gets to hear this band being broadcasted weekly. Yes they are on MT Radio. So 200k listeners a week can't be that band for a local band out of Eastlake to get at least a nice bump up above others. Plus their music is pretty damn good.
Lick The Blade: Straight up metal. This band will deliver a mouth watering dose of metal that will indeed fulfill your metal needs. They have that NWOBHM sound to them and the signer Ted Anderson's vocal range is at its best. Watch out for them.
But the band I think that will really make it in 2012 as a hard rock band would have to be Blackout Superstar. Blackout Superstar is a straight up hard rockin band that delivers punch after punch and brings the fun back to the stage. Blackout Superstar whom is fronted by Jon Sayre who is extremely well known in the Northeast Ohio area as being a power frontman helps drive this band with its creativity and makes them standout from all the others out there.
