The Balloon Master Show

The Balloon Master Show at the Onyx Theater is one of the most original productions, I've witnessed in a long time. The show is loose and seems to be fueled by generous helpings of crack-cocaine. The mix of talents put together for each show is a grab-bag of who's who in the local entertainment community here in Vegas: comedians, musical acts and burlesque dancers are the norm. At the second installment of this series Champion Body Painter Rob Hester painted The Balloon Master's promotional poster on the torso of the lovely Fae Dcay. The subject and design of which he had NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE.

But what sets this hodge-podge variety show apart from other Vegas acts up-and-down The Strip is the creative energy that gets poured into each and every show. That and the sultry voice of announcer Bruce Radell, the self-proclaimed 8th Wonder of the World. The banter between Bruce and the star of the show is unlike many other Host/Announcer teams in Vegas; think Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon or for a more timely analogy Conan O'Brien and Andy Richter. They feed off each other, the crowd and their quickly scribbled (read carefully planned out) program.

The fifth installment held last night at a new start time of 10pm proved that the shows head- writer/director/producer/host Rob Cole aka The Balloon Master is finally hitting his stride. Breaking away from his traditional show of adult oriented balloon animals, Cole brings a few of his "calling-card" balloon penises but leaves the rest of the menagerie at home. Instead he focuses the spotlight on fellow comics, sideshow performers and burlesque dancers.

Last night Cole also announced that he has hired SINNER Magazine Editor-in-Chief Ginah Lasta as his manager and tasked her to help promote his show and book gigs and acts. During the announcement Cole had a live discussion with Lasta regarding a possible spot on a National TV show that highlights people with certain talents.

The most interesting and original addition to last night's edition was the Live Fetish Cam filmed and broadcasted backstage. I'll leave the seedy details out but suffice it to say that anyone with a Furry and/or Food Fetish would have been in hog heaven!

The next show is December 16th at 8pm and you can RSVP on facebook here.
