Bagalis Italian Restaurant

Oh Bagalis, Bagalis! The words escape me when attempting to describe the delectable cuisine being effortlessly ushered out of the immaculate kitchen onto the pristine stage known as the dining room floor of Bagalis. From the moment you spot this adorable eatery on a quaint corner of Main Street in the picturesque mountain town of Frisco, Colorado, the aromas of fresh, hand-made pasta and sauce beckon you in from the street. You curiously approach the door and peek inside to see the rustic yet welcoming decor of hardwood, comfortable tables and cozy seating areas. A quick peak at the strategically planned menu of classic Italian fare combined with rustic and charming Colorado haute cuisine assures you that an evening dining at this establishment is surely worth the trip!

Chef and Owner Michael Ulehla, along with his trained and experienced staff, pipe out all kinds of wonderfulness including fresh, handmade pastas, pizzas with dough made from scratch, and a wide array of appetizers, entrees and desserts. The menu includes innovative items like a Caesar Salad made with peppery Kale and Garbonzo beans instead of the classic and sometimes boring Romaine Lettuce. Or try their Bacon and Gorgonzola pizza dressed with fresh lettuce on top of a handmade crust. The melt in your mouth short-rib is one of my all time favorites and any of their fresh pastas topped with house-made sauce is always a fine choice.

The restaurant also features a reasonable wine and cocktail list with something for everyone. The Tiramisu Martini is great on a cold day. And the front of the house staff is great at making suggestions for their extensive wine list. It is exciting to watch your server or host go to collect your selection from their large glass wine humidor that stands as a focal point in the beautiful restaurant.

Bagalis is a must if visiting Summit County for a ski trip or mountain getaway. It features a great rustic, yet cozy atmosphere with affordable prices. Happy hour is daily from 430pm to 6pm at the bar and features half priced appetizers and drink specials. This is a fantastic way to explore the awesome cuisine of Bagalis at a discount while beating the crowds.
