"It Hurts" by Bad Bad Hat is a spirited and upbeat female fronted Indie Pop EP.
Instrumentally speaking these songs are ones of very high production standards- everything is mixed perfectly and the arrangements are incredibly catchy and enjoyable.
The vocals really take all of this to the next level. Singer Kerry Alexander peppers each song with her own unique brand of sparky vocals and lyrics so soaked in attitude and tongue in cheek spunk that they'll make your head spin. Sounding somewhat reminiscent of Kate Nash, Alexander owns every moment of every song, sometimes managing to do so with only the slightest whisper.
The track "9AM" is a shade more moody than most, but somehow manages to remain on the brighter side of melancholy.
The final track (entitled 'A Bout') drops the big full band production and multiple vocal layers (at least in the first half and very ending), leaving the listener on a more intimate note.
